Primary Design

At Power Engineering Networks, we are committed to providing high-quality LV/MV & HV design solutions in a timely, cost-effective, and professional manner. Our primary design department diligently transforms basic design briefs into detailed designs. Leveraging our team's extensive experience, we play a crucial role in project development during the pre-planning stage by delivering the required layout drawings for planning applications. With our wealth of experience in laying out various types of substations and our adherence to international and local standards for power plant and substation design, we prioritize electrical and safety clearances to ensure a safe and maintainable system.

We will be taking care of the following tasks:

  • Creating the AC/DC single line diagrams (SLDs) for the plant and conducting calculations for the sizing of LV and MV cables for 500kV substations.
  • Conducting calculations for the sizing of electrical equipment such as the plant's battery banks, chargers, CT/VTs, and the plant's auxiliary transformer for 500/132/33kV substations. - Reviewing vendor drawings and schematics to ensure alignment with project technical specifications and international standards.
  • Designing the plant's grounding system, shielding, and indoor/outdoor lighting system.

Secondary Design

In the realm of secondary design, we are pleased to offer the following comprehensive services:

  • Development of Extra High Voltage (EHV) substations, meticulously aligned with the Scope of Work (SOW) and specifications, with due consideration to pre-bid and post-bid clarifications from esteemed entities.
  • Provision of EHV design and technical services for the intricate analysis, specification, and application of protective relaying, control systems, and equipment monitoring for transmission and distribution networks.
  • Careful execution of relay setting calculations and configurations for transmission lines, distribution feeders, power transformers, and related components.
  • Design of new-build and brown-field substation protection and control systems up to 500kV, accompanied by the creation of CAD drawings encompassing Single Line, AC/DC elementary, interlock logic, and relay metering, among others.
  • Adherence to protection schemes in accordance with international standards, including IEC, ANSI, and SEC Standard.
  • Thorough review and validation of primary equipment, encompassing switchgears, cables, transformers, control panels, generators, and fault recorders, among others.
  • Integration of complete protection panels, capacitor banks, switching schemes, control cable schedules, and Bill of Quantities (BOQ), coupled with diligent site visits to validate existing drawings.
  • Offering valuable technical support to field engineers during the phases of construction, site installation, and commissioning, thereby ensuring the expeditious resolution of any operational challenges.

Civil Design

Our fantastic in-house Civil Design Team at Power Engineering Networks is made up of experienced Engineers, Project Managers, and Designers. We're experts at handling all aspects of civil design for power plants, wind farms, solar farms, and substation projects, and we've worked on a wide range of projects.

We use the latest software and have a fantastic team to ensure that our clients always receive top-notch service. By doing our design work in-house and working closely with specialist teams (Structural, Civil, Electrical, and Legal), we can offer a unique and comprehensive service for substations.

We create integrated designs that take into account all the different aspects of substation sites. Safety is a top priority for us, and we follow a strict risk assessment process. We're also up to date with the latest CDM regulations. Our experienced staff can verify designs, ensuring that we get it right the first time. All our staff stay on top of current design standards and have in-depth knowledge of Euro Codes, ANSI/IEC/SEC/Aramco/ESB Specifications, National Grid, and various DNO standards. Plus, we can create custom designs to meet each client's specific needs.
